The exhibition Paperweights, Slovenia's Overlooked Glassmaking Heritage is on display until the end of 2024 in Stara Grofija.
Paperweights are decorative and useful objects that appeared in the mid-19th century and were first used in post offices. Their aesthetic use has often overshadowed their primary use - paperweighting.
The paperweights on display were collected over many years by Dr Bogdan Jurkošek and Dr Tea Kolar - Jurkovšek, who donated the entire collection of 180 paperweights to the Museum.
The exhibition, which was created by Dr Bogdan Jurkošek, Jože Rataj and Dr Tea Kolar, is accompanied by a catalogue describing the history and manufacture of paperweights in Slovenia. The catalogue also provides a detailed description of the paperweights on display at the exhibition.
